Human Eye - "Junkyard Heart"

On this, their 3rd full-length as Human Eye, Timmy is joined by his mainstays Johnny Lzr on keys, Hurricane William on sax and percussion, and Brad Hales on bass. On It Came From the Sky, the band continue to explore the themes of inter-planetary life and travel, aliens/human relationships and horror films, all filtered through an unhinged psychedelic punk juggernaut.

Vacation - "Holy House"

New Windsor, New York player Wayne Memmer’s voice quivers along to the delicate plucking of his guitar strings like the leaves of a lonely tree blowing in the wind on the fringes of a big field.  The fragility is only a front, though, that tree has deep roots and won’t get blown over too easily. Grab his beautiful new Locust Lane EP on Bndcmp and follow him on Tumblr. Don’t miss the awesome Neil Young covers compilation album that Wayne put together this past spring.

Girls Names - "I Could Die"

Pulling their sound from the early days of shoegaze and the likes of Black Tambourine and The Jesus & Mary Chain, Girls Names make a pretty decent go of it. I've seen both great and pretty bad reviews of this new album. I'm more inclined to agree to the former, but why don't you make up your own mind and check it out for yourself?

Jonti - "Hornets Nest"

Multi-instrumentalist, arranger, producer, and vocalist, Jonti, began assembling music after his departure from South Africa to Australia. Spending countless hours studying records like they were books, processing each song, this became Jonti’s music school, testing his theories on a 4-track recorder. Jonti has now recorded with Mark Ronson, Santigold, Sean Lennon and the Dap-Kings, as well as producer John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Kurt Vile).
For Jonti’s debut album, coming this fall on Stones Throw, he went the opposite route, doing everything himself, start to finish. The album is Twiligig, is slated for October release. Twirligig draws inspiration from many of Jonti’s favorite artists: Madlib, Stereolab, Free Design and The Beach Boys. But Twirligig’s main inspiration came from cartoonist/ filmmaker Norman Mclaren. Jonti explains, “His films are complex, but they’re still fun. You can feel his enthusiasm for techniques and experimentation. I try make simple pop songs with that same enthusiasm.”
Although Jonti describes his music as simple, label head Peanut Butter Wolf sees it as anything but that. “I understand the pop references because his music is so catchy, but the arrangements blew me away. I couldn’t figure out how the hell he did what he did. That he did it all on his own at such an early age kinda scared me.
